We are over two thousand years on the other side of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and the question that Pontius Pilate asked Jesus in His sham trial still echoes down to our time: “What is Truth?” This ironic question, of course, is a variation of the deceptive question posed by the serpent in the Garden of Eden in the Book of Genesis to the woman, Eve, “Did God really say…”

Are we honestly interested in Truth, or are we comfortable with making assertions that sound as if they have the weight of argument behind them, but are really a million miles wide and about an inch deep?

This is a question worth pondering the answer to before communicating–whether online, offline, in real life, or even just with ourselves. If we are not interested in discovering, refuting, examining, or advocating for the Truth, then we are probably wasting everyone’s time with publishing our thoughts.

A marketer once pointed out years ago in his blog that, “When everyone can publish, everyone will,” and a blogger more recently made the point in her blog that, “Some thoughts should die indoors.”

Choose wisely after you’ve decided if you’re honestly seeking the Truth.
